According to a recent study published in the Fertility magazine, excessive weight may considerably increase the risks of miscarriages in pregnant women.
Dr. Rachael Weiss of
The researchers have carried out a thorough study of the medical publications in specialized reviews that were published during the recent twenty years to see if there were any other researches that connected excessive weight with miscarriages and compared the course of pregnancy in normal-weight women to the one in women with excessive weight. Most of the studies concluded the miscarriage was more frequent in obese women at the term less than 20 weeks.
The analysis comprised the detailed study of the eighteen researches conducted earlier. The results were sad - more than 67 percent of miscarriages happened to obese women. The miscarriage risk rises even more when a woman, not her husband, needs a fertility treatment before she succeeds to get pregnant.
The obtained results prove that women of reproductive age having excessive weight are in the risk group of miscarriage. While obese women that require fertility treatment are even in a greater danger. However, more studies have to be conveyed in order to find the possible solution for the problem.
