A New Way To Keep Fit Found In Olive Oil

The laboratory rats may help humans find a new way to control weight problems!

One of the recent studies has found a way to ward off hunger. Olive oil contains a certain fatty acid and other monounsaturated fats that do no harm to a human’s heart. These substances can help you fight off hunger.

The researchers suggest these results may help develop new medicine to control and enhance appetite.

Doctor Caroline Pullhemus is a leading pharmacologist at the Californian University. Dr. Pullhemus used the lab rats to test the effect of the oleic acid on the rodents’ stomachs. Once the fat was introduced into the animals’ intestinal system, it was soon turned into a fat messenger oleoylethanolamide.

Once introduced into the digestive system, the oleoylethanolamide activates specific receptors that consequently tell the brain that the body is full and the person no longer feels hungry. As a result, the person starts feeling full a lot sooner and eats a lot less at a time.

Pullhemus introduced the fat into the animals’ intestines surgically, and observed that the rats ate significantly less afterwards.

In order to study the mechanism deeper, the fat was introduced in an altered state, so that the mice body wouldn’t produce oleoylethanolamide. This way the mice’ appetite was not decreased.

The study suggests the creation of a drug that would prolong the feeling of satisfaction and fullness. Or on the contrary, the certain level of oleoylethanolamide can help people with decreased appetite.

The renowned dietologists and pharmacists appraise the study and its results, claiming the perspectives to be fascinating.

In the meantime, Dr.Pullhemus is about to start a new study of the practical application of oleoylethanolamide. However, Dr. Pullhemus warns against consuming olive oil in exuberant quantity to ward off hunger. Though olive oil is considered to be heart-healthy, it can quickly add up to your body weight.
